Expert Analysis

Reporter: Simon Rowlands

A race named for Romanised, successful in the previous two editions when running to a rating of 116, and a worthy winner in the Breeders’ Cup Mile victor Order of Australia, for all that he got the run of things to a degree up front. The overall time was slow – only a bit quicker than the two-year-old fillies’ maiden which preceded it – with something of a burn-up after halfway, the winner’s finishing speed of 109.1% well above par for course and distance.

ORDER OF AUSTRALIA(115 here, 118 previously) was back to near to his Breeders’ Cup Mile best and showed that 7f is no problem for him still, even at a steady pace providing he is the one making it, dictating before quickening at halfway, under pressure briefly 1f out but comfortably on top by the line. He has been unplaced both times on soft/heavy but seems to cope with anything else.

NJORD (109 here and previously) remains in good form, this the equal of his Haydock second to Kinross the time before, a shade better than the result in coming from mid-field in a race run at a slow initial pace, hanging right briefly but running on.

POWER UNDER ME (102 here, 104 previously) ran creditably on quicker ground than previously, taking a while to settle in mid-field and just making his effort when carried left approaching the final 1f, keeping on thereafter. There would be some doubts about his staying still further on breeding.

CURRENT OPTION (100 here, 106 previously) was again a bit below the form of his Gladness Stakes second, not helped by going freely and briefly going second again in the penultimate 1f. Despite being by Camelot, he may be worth a try in a well-run 6f.

ACE AUSSIE (97 here, 104 previously) may need a bit more of a test but his main problem here was that he drifted left throughout the penultimate 1f, losing a prominent position as a result.

THUNDER BEAUTY (94 here, 93 previously) ran respectably in the face of a stiff task, just brief headway in the penultimate 1f.

GALTEE MIST (89 here, 93 previously) is finding life difficult out of handicaps, racing freely and always behind.
