Expert View Verdict

Verdict

Older fillies have won the last couple of runnings of this despite giving a chunk of weight to their younger rivals and CARMEL'S PHOENIX may prove the answer this time. The Mark Fahey-trained filly ran with credit in stakes company on her return here last month and should be up to scoring back in a maiden now. Benaki shaped with promise when chasing home Chablis Rock at Limerick on her debut last month and is expected to be in the mix. Sangreal was no match for the impressive Eretria at Leopardstown but is also entitled to step forward and is another to consider.

There was a lot to like about the debut of BENAKI, finishing runner-up over 12f in a Limerick maiden, and being from a top yard with a nice pedigree there's a good chance of further progress putting her in with a strong chance here. Sangreal is a worthy opponent with prorgess likely after a promising debut effort herself - she was runner-up over 10f at Leopardstown - although as things stand her form isn't up to the level of Carmel's Phoenix who was a Listed fifth at big odds last time.
