Verdict

BENVENUTO CELLINI showcased a high level of form as a juvenile, winning impressively on Irish Champions Weekend before making the frame behind two stable companions in the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster, and has an excellent opportunity to continue Aidan O'Brien's fantastic record in this contest. The Ballydoyle maestro has won the Chester Vase on no less than 11 occasions and the son of Frankel appears more than capable of announcing himself as one of their leading hopes for Epsom. Stablemate Proposition merits respect, and Del Maro remains capable of better having belatedly opened his account at Yarmouth last month.

Aidan O'Brien has farmed this race over the years and took it with subsequent Derby hero Lambourn 12 months. Although his 3yo's have been needing a run, BENVENUTO CELLINI is a major bullet to fire for Epsom and he'll surely be fit enough to take this on return. Last seen getting bogged down on heavy ground in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster, the son of Frankel had earlier looked impressive on sounder surfaces and the step up to 12f could really suit this season. Water To Wine isn't easily passed over after he made such a striking debut at Newbury 18 days ago and the son of Kingman would put himself firmly in the Derby picture with a big run here. He's the danger, although Godolphin's Del Maro has already run well at this level and got off the mark at Yarmouth on reappearance.
