Verdict

PATH OF STARS answered every question Ben Macey asked of her over track and trip and she kept going to finally get off the mark. It takes a small leap of faith to expect her to step forward from that, but it's worth taking the chance. Fine As Wine has the assistance of Sean Bowen in the saddle for the first time having run with credit on both handicap starts to date. She heads a list of dangers that also includes Masterminding, who was runner-up in the other division of the C&D handicap the selection won last month.

Watch out for: Fine As Wine (2)

Imperial Rule, a chase winner here five weeks ago, reverts to hurdles off a 4lb lower mark and must go well again, while Alvesta ran to form when third over C&D just the other day and could again get involved if turned out so quickly. The selection is the one at the bottom of the weights, though, with PATH OF STARS fancied to make it back-to-back wins after finally earning a breakthrough success over C&D five weeks ago. She's up 8lb but is only a 5yo and remains open to further progress.
