This Group 3 for the juvenile fillies was run in really testing conditions at Ayr on Saturday. The field was reduced to five from the nine declared as a result, with Silent Beauty ultimately justifying favouritism quite comfortably as she coped with the ground well. It was the slowest winning time in the last twenty years, almost five seconds slower than last year’s renewal on soft ground. This was tough going for these two-year-olds.
SILENT BEAUTY tracked the leader, always travelling well. She hit the front inside the penultimate furlong and stayed on well in the final furlong. Her sole defeat came at Royal Ascot but has recovered since that defeat to win at listed level last time and follow up here with a Group 3 win.
RUBY MOON lost her position as she struggled in the middle of this contest, dropping to last at one stage. She gathered herself after being switched off the far rail and stayed on well to finish second. Not for the first time, she looks like she may appreciate further.
ANGEL IN MY HEART might have ruined a very nice handicap mark here. She travelled well and appeared to be a real threat approaching the furlong pole, before fading inside the final furlong.
DARK ISSUE was held up in rear and while she kept on in the closing stages, she never threatened to get involved.
ETONNANTE led the field to halfway but got tired in the final furlong and weakened.
