A one-sided contest on paper, with Tahiyra’s conqueror at Newmarket, Mawj, pulled out a week or so before, if rather less so in reality, a steady/slow pace leading to something of a late burn-up (104.9% finishing speed). The form overall is smart, rather than better, and that has second and third improving quite a bit.
TAHIYRA (113+ here, 118 previously) got the job done readily enough in the end without being super impressive, tracking the steady/slow pace, coming a bit wide into the straight and making smooth headway, quickening to lead approaching the final 1f and shifting slightly right, getting a couple of cracks with the whip and pushed out thereafter without going away. Newmarket suggests she is very smart, her two wins since not quite so much.
REMARQUEE (111 here, 106 previously) ran a belter, her best effort yet, and might have run the winner very close with more luck, quite free and steadied to track the pace, making an effort 2f out and soon ridden, squeezed out briefly before rallying and going on well at the death. She would need to settle better to stay further.
SOUNDS OF HEAVEN (110 here, 100+ previously) improved quite a bit further from her narrow win in a listed race at York and confirmed herself to be smart, disputing much of the running, nosing ahead briefly after 2f out and sticking to her task. She seems likely to stay a bit further.
MEDITATE (108 here, 111 previously) may not be quite as good as she ended up being as a 2-y-o, when she had a busy schedule, but ran creditably within that context despite 8f, even under these conditions, seeming plenty far enough for her. She helped to dictate the pace, was headed narrowly 2f out and came again until weakening inside the final 1f.
QUEEN FOR YOU (100 here and previously) ran creditably without improving on what was her third start, free and tracking the pace, briefly a bit short of room over 2f out then one paced. There would be a doubt as to her staying further on pedigree.
MAMMAS GIRL (0 here, 110 previously) was quickly beaten after going freely quite close up if a bit wide, more than the trip alone to blame again.
