Stable Tour Quotes
Gordon Elliott (11 February 2026): "He’s in great form and is obviously going for the Stayers’ Hurdle again. I just felt he is getting a bit older, and he was holding his condition a little bit better, so I thought another run on ground that was safe wasn’t a bad idea. He’s in great form now. He doesn’t do anything fancy at home, so you never really know where you are with him, but he’s a warrior and he’s got form around Cheltenham. We’re really looking forward to him. "
Gordon Elliott (19 January 2026): "He’s going to go straight to the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. If there was a staying hurdle for him at the Dublin Racing Festival, he’d probably run in it, but there isn’t! I thought his performance at Leopardstown last time was up there with his best. I think everyone gets on the bandwagon in saying he needs soft ground and a big break between his races, but I’m not so sure. He’s the horse of a lifetime, to be honest."
Gordon Elliott (23 October 2025): "We’d like to start him off in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse, but we’d want plenty of rain to do that and going over for the Ascot Hurdle instead is an option. The ground wasn’t soft enough for him at Fairyhouse last year, and we won’t run if that is the case this year. We’ve been giving him big gaps in between his runs for the last couple of years, but we might keep him a little busier this time around."
Gordon Elliott (22 October 2024): "We took a view on what sort of campaign would suit him best last season and it worked out well, so we’ll do the same again this season. He’ll start in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle and then be kept fresh for the Stayers’ Hurdle. He’s still only a seven-year-old and if we can keep him right, he could be on top of this division for a few years yet."
Gordon Elliott (09 April 2024): "He’s entered in the Liverpool Hurdle on Saturday, but we haven’t made up our mind yet. We’ll make a call close to declaration time. We were thrilled with him at Cheltenham. We thought sending him there fresh was the right thing to do and it was great that it worked out so well."
Gordon Elliott (26 February 2024): "He’s in great form and we’ve been training him for the Stayers’ Hurdle all season. I’ll be shocked if Jack doesn’t ride him. He ran a huge race in it last year and was a bit unlucky. After he runs at Cheltenham, we might well look to run him in France"
Gordon Elliott (16 November 2023): "We’ll probably start him back in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle and will be working backwards from the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. He’s only a six-year-old and isn’t overly exposed in staying hurdles. The division is wide open and he’s already in the mix with the best of them, so if he could find a few pounds of improvement he’d be in great shape."
Gordon Elliott (12 April 2023): "I’m not 100% sure if he’ll run. We’ll leave it late to make a decision on whether to run him in the Liverpool Hurdle or not. Waiting for the Punchestown Festival is very much a possibility."
Gordon Elliott (28 February 2023): "He’s in great form and the Stayers’ Hurdle is the plan. He looks great and is working very well. Davy rode him in the Galmoy and he said he was very glad that he did ride him, as he thought he was going nowhere on him, so he gave him a squeeze and before he knew it, he was in front three out! That’s not the way Davy likes to ride or the way the horse wants to be ridden, so Davy will have learned a lot from that and they’ll be all the better for it. Everyone is saying that better ground would be a negative for him, but I’m not worried about it. Last year at Cheltenham the trip was just too short for him in the Champion Hurdle. I think the Stayers’ Hurdle will suit him well and he’s one of my best chances of the week."
Gordon Elliott (01 March 2022): "He was very good in winning the Red Mills Hurdle and he’s going to take his chance in the Champion Hurdle. He’s improving, but it’s hard to know what he is, as he doesn’t show much at home. I suppose Zanahiyr has already had a go at Honeysuckle and come up short, whereas we don’t know how this fella will measure up to her yet. I think he’ll be better on better ground."
