Stable Tour Quotes
Aidan O'Brien (28 October 2024): "We’re very happy with him and he’s running in the Breeders’ Cup Turf. We always thought this race would suit him. He loves fast ground and a mile-and-a-half around a track like this will play to his strengths. He ran well for a long way in the Irish Champion Stakes in first-time cheekpieces, but we’re going to take them off him for this race. This time of year suits him and we think he’s in better shape now than he’s been in all season. He has always been a very talented horse, and I think he’s ready to show all of it in this race."
Aidan O'Brien (19 March 2024): "He is on target for the Dubai Turf at Meydan on March 30th. In his last run at Riyadh, we felt they just went way too slow for him. He’s a strong galloping horse that will always be favoured by an even or stronger pace. Considering that, we thought he ran well and can step up a lot from that. After Dubai, we’ll probably go back up in trip with him."
Aidan O'Brien (16 June 2023): "He will run in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. We were thrilled with what he did in the Tattersalls Gold Cup. He showed that he doesn’t mind making the running that day, so that gives us plenty of options with him going forward. A mile-and-a-quarter on nice ground suits him well and we think he can come forward again from the Curragh."
Aidan O'Brien (27 March 2023): "We’re delighted with him. He did really well over the winter both physically and mentally. He’s a bigger, stronger horse this year. We are thinking about starting him off the Prix Ganay at ParisLongchamp and then probably look at the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh."
Aidan O'Brien (10 May 2022): "What he did in the 2000 Guineas, he shouldn’t have been able to do. For a horse that is going to be better over longer trips, he ended up totally on the backfoot after clipping a heel early and still managed to work his way into the race. I thought it was a very serious run. We’re obviously disappointed that he’s going to miss the Derby, but these things happen. We’ll do our best to get him back in top shape as soon as we can and he’s still a very exciting horse."
Aidan O'Brien (28 March 2022): "We were all very happy with his work at the Curragh over the weekend and he’ll go straight to the 2000 Guineas. There wasn’t much between him and Point Lonsdale in the work and the two of them will go there with a fair chance. You’d hope both of them will stay the Derby trip too. He’s a bigger horse than Camelot was, rangier, but I think he has more pace than him. He finds it easy to go fast. Camelot was the only son of Montjeu to ever win a Group 1 over a mile as a three-year-old, but this fella is probably better equipped for a 2000 Guineas."
