Joseph O'Brien (17 February 2026): "He has been a real hero of a horse for us. He’s 11, but he wasn’t far off his best form when winning the Galmoy Hurdle last time. He has run in the Stayers’ Hurdle four times already and hasn’t had loads of luck in it. I thought I had him in tip-top form going into the race last year and he really was fiercely unlucky to be brought down. I can’t imagine there’s been too many horses that have won at the Cheltenham Festival on their fifth attempt in a race, but we’ll get him there in the very best shape we can and hopefully he’ll run well in it again."

Joseph O'Brien (22 December 2025): "He’s been a real legend for us over the years. The plan this season was always to come straight to the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting as he goes very well fresh and clearly enjoys the test this race presents. He’s getting older now, but he hasn’t given us any reason to think he’s regressing yet, so hopefully he’ll run a big race and keep the younger horses honest."

Joseph O'Brien (11 February 2025): "We’ve been particularly happy with Home By The Lee since Christmas. He’s training great. He’s had three goes at the Stayers’ Hurdle and has run well every time, but he’s on track to get there in his best shape yet I’d say, fingers crossed. He has just been really sweet this season. To see him do what he did without headgear in the Lismullen and then win so well with the headgear back on at Christmas, he just seems to be in a really good place physically and mentally."

Joseph O'Brien (23 December 2024): "His target is the Savills Hurdle at Leopardstown on Saturday. We were really happy with his winning return to action in the Lismullen Hurdle. He can look a quirky devil at times, but he was as sweet as a nut on the day in what was a slowly-run race which suits him. We like to keep him fresh in between his runs and this race was always his main mid-season target. The intention is to put blinkers back on him which he responded well to last season."

Joseph O'Brien (27 February 2024): "We’ve been training him for the Stayers’ Hurdle, and he seems in great order. He had to make his own running in both his starts this season which didn’t suit him at all. His latest run in particular was a non-event for him. He ran really well when only beaten 3¾ lengths in the Stayers’ Hurdle last year despite making a very uncharacteristic bad mistake at the sixth hurdle. We are likely to try him in some sort of headgear, be it cheekpieces or blinkers. We tried him in cheekpieces once before, but he wasn’t in great form over fences at the time, so it was inconclusive. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if it helped him, as everyone knows he’s an idle type of horse."

Joseph O'Brien (18 October 2023): "He really came into his own as a staying hurdler last season. We changed a couple of elements of his training regime, and he seemed to respond well to those. We’ll give him a similar sort of campaign this season and might well start him back in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan. The staying hurdle division looks wide open, and I think he can be a factor at the top of it. We won’t over race him and will look to keep him fresh."

Joseph O'Brien (21 February 2023): "He is on target for the Stayers’ Hurdle. It has been our plan since his last run to go straight to Cheltenham and his preparation has gone really well so far. He seems a better horse this season and I’d say he’s benefited from a full season focused on staying hurdling. He only returned to hurdling halfway through last season after his chasing career went the wrong way and he seems to have got sharper over hurdles the more he has jumped them. The key difference in his latest start was that he travelled so much better than he has in the past. The Stayers’ Hurdle is a different race, and it might be harder for him to travel as well, but if he does, I’d say he’ll be bang there in the finish."

Joseph O'Brien (28 October 2022): "Home By The Lee was reinvented as a hurdler last year and did very well, finishing second in the Galmoy Hurdle prior to running well in the Stayers’ Hurdle. He was in the process of running a lovely race on his return at Down Royal and might well have won but for running out at the second-last hurdle. We are looking at the Lismullen Hurdle for him next."

Joseph O'Brien (08 March 2022): "We are going to run him in the Stayers’ Hurdle. He has a bit to find on official ratings, but I thought he ran well enough in the Galmoy Hurdle to justify his spot in the line-up. He stays well and while he’ll be a huge price, I don’t think he should be ruled out."
