Stable Tour Quotes
Joe Tizzard (12 October 2022): "He looks fantastic, and he doesn’t get his head in front many times but he is a decent horse. I am probably going to run him in a Pertemps Qualifier at Aintree before going for the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury. He will then have a break before being prepared for the Grand National - they are his two big aims."
Colin Tizzard (04 April 2022): "The Grand National has always been the plan since he finished runner-up in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury and we purposely didn’t run him until the weights were announced. In hindsight, his Ascot run was a decent run, but I didn’t actually enjoy watching it too much as he didn’t travel or jump as well as he can. He still came there to win his race at the last and showed he is capable off this sort of mark. He seems in great form and has a had a school over the National style fences down at David Pipe’s. He jumped them really well and isn’t mega exuberant but just a good accurate jumper. With a bit of luck in running I see no reason why he won’t be bang there crossing the Melling Road and then from there it is wide open. We know what Nationals are about but if he gets a bit of luck in running, I can see him getting into it. He jumped really well in the Ladbrokes at Newbury and just got baulked a little bit which may have cost him the race and it a first time we’ve really set a horse out for the race. He ticks a few boxes, and we will see what happens as you need a lot of luck."
Colin Tizzard (02 March 2022): "I don’t think I’m going to run Fiddlerontheroof in the Gold Cup. My old man tells me every morning that Fiddlerontheroof’s best preparation for a Grand National is the Gold Cup, but I don’t know. Unless he wows us next week he won’t be running as the plan is to take him to the Grand National off of 155. I was a bit disappointed at Ascot, but he probably ran a blinder. He didn’t travel like he could, but he still got there to win his race at the last. He could be a proper Grand National horse. One of the guys that owns him, Nick Burley, is a Liverpool boy and he wants to have a go at a Grand National so that is what we will do. He is a good stayer and is arguably unlucky not to win a Ladbrokes and arguably unlucky not to win at Ascot the other day. We have saved him for the spring. It wasn’t a pretty watch at Ascot as he is normally a better traveller, and he didn’t jump as well as he can. I didn’t enjoy watching it until two out when I thought he was going to win with his class. You would like to think over a Grand National if he gets in a nice rhythm he could just travel well. We’ve never really had a proper stab with a horse at the Grand National. I mentioned it to dad at Christmas time after talking to the boys. He said where are going to run that as he hasn’t run for a long time, and I said the National and he said I’ll have that in my name still. He would have to be the best we have sent there. They set up the fences at David Pipe’s so we will go down there a couple of times and do it all properly."
Colin Tizzard (14 October 2021): "He was ever so consistent after winning at Exeter without getting his head in front again, but he was taking on the best of the best and ran with credit all the way through. The plan with him is to start him in the Colin Parker at Carlisle at the end of the month and he will have an entry in the Paddy Power and the Ladbrokes Trophy. We stepped him up in trip last year and he coped with it absolutely fine, and I think there is a big handicap in him."
Colin Tizzard (01 March 2021): "He was a two-mile novice hurdle winner around Sandown in heavy ground and he hasn't done a lot wrong. He has been second four times on the bounce but in great company. He was stepped up to three miles last time and he certainly stayed. He ran in three point-to-points and won his bumper, and we think the further he goes the better he will be so we will have a crack at the Brown Advisory with him."
Colin Tizzard (08 October 2020): "He is entered at Chepstow on Saturday in the big two mile three novice chase. He is a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and won an Irish point-to-point. We are really excited about running him and I think he will be a two and a half miler this season. He is a horse we are going to aim at the Marsh Chase, and he is our highest rated hurdler to go novice chasing with. Last year was always a bonus and he has chaser written all over him. Touch wood, he schools really nicely, and we are excited about running him on Saturday."
Colin Tizzard (02 March 2020): "“He will run in the Supreme. He has got outstanding form this season. He won a Tolworth last time and we have saved him for it. A bit of rain this week will suit him as he handles soft ground really well. He is a lovely big horse and his form is really good. His coat is coming at the right time. He will be our only one in the Supreme as Master Debonair is going to go straight to Aintree. I think this horse has got a great chance especially if the ground is on the slower side. His form is rock solid he was second to Thyme Hill then he was second to Edwardstone who gave Harry Senior a penalty on a track which wouldn’t have suite us and he has been hugely impressive in his two runs round Sandown. He is a good traveller and he will stay on up the hill well. His bumper form was good and he beat The Big Getaway in Ireland before we got him.You can see he is a chasing type. He will make a gorgeous chaser next season but he is a pretty good novice hurdler at the moment. I wouldn’t want it to dry out to much as he would want a bit of cut more so that he can handle it better than the rest. He has proved that around Sandown. "
Colin Tizzard (12 October 2019): "He won his last bumper at Navan beating The Big Getaway of Willie Mullins’s that ran really well at Punchestown. He is a lovely big horse and he ran a cracker in the Persian War at Chepstow on Friday when second to Thyme Hill. He is a lovely prospect and should win plenty of races."
