Stable Tour Quotes
Joseph O'Brien (16 June 2023): "The plan is to run him in the Wolferton Stakes. It has been brilliant to see him come back better than ever this season, as he was very sick for quite a while last season and looked in big trouble at one stage. He has always looked like one with the potential to be very good and he ran a stormer to finish a very close fourth in the Prix d’Ispahan at PrisLongchamp last time. On paper this might look a big drop in class, but this race usually requires a 110+ performance to win it. His form tells you that he is capable of that level of performance and going back up to a mile-and-a-quarter should suit. He looks to be one of our best chances of the week."
Joseph O'Brien (23 March 2023): "We are delighted with Buckaroo at the minute. We had very high hopes for him last season, but he got very sick after he disappointed in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and took a long time to come back right. Everyone involved has been very patient with him and he looks fantastic now. He’s a big, rangy colt that was always going to improve with time and it’s great to have him back on the team. We aren’t decided on his starting point just yet, but we’re in a great place with him. He could be one for the Prix D’Ispahan at ParisLongchamp in May."
Qatar Racing (28 April 2022): "He is obviously in Ireland with Joseph, and he is probably going to head for the Derby Trial at Leopardstown. He was probably a little unlucky not to win first time out in the Ballysax where he was beaten on a head bob. He would probably be our smartest three-year-old colt prospect and his trainer is also considering running him in the Irish Guineas. He has enough speed to run over a mile but we believe he will stay a mile and a half on pedigree."
Joseph O'Brien (30 March 2022): "Buckaroo is a horse we’ve always really liked. He is a big, burly, strong horse that was always going to be better as a three-year-old, so for him to show so much ability last year makes him an exciting prospect for this year. He wintered particularly well and will probably take a run to tighten him up. We’ve given him an entry in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown this weekend and it’s possible that he’ll start off there. We are really looking forward to him this year and he should progress as the season goes on."
