A race won by some good performers over the years, including Lisnagar Oscar and Hillcrest recently, but this latest edition is probably a bit weaker than usual. It was truly run, though, quicker overall than the Rendlesham Hurdle and a bit quicker in the closing stages, also. There could be a few better longer-term prospects in there.
MAKIN’YOURMINDUP (h135 here and previously) is going the right way, his only defeat recently coming the one he managed to beat here. He raced just behind the leaders, nosed ahead going to the last and battled on well despite edging right. He appeals as a useful prospect for fences when the time comes.
COLLECTORS ITEM (h135 here, 133 previously) could not quite confirm the placings with Makin’yourmindup from Kempton the time before but probably ran his best race, just behind the leaders, under some pressure after 4 out but responding to have every chance from between the last 2, drifting left and just denied. A strapping sort, from the family of Lady Rebecca, he is a useful prospect at least for chases further down the line.
THE KING OF RYHOPE (h132 here, 128 previously) could make no further impression late on but still ran his best race, and there may be more to come after just 3 starts.
SCARFACE (h128 here and previously) ran at least as well as previously, coming from mid-field to look a threat briefly 3 out. A return to a slightly shorter trip should be no problem.
