This Group 2 contest saw the cream rise to the top with the four main contenders in the market pulling clear of the three outsiders. The time was the quickest since Free Wind won the race in 2021 on good to firm ground. Both of those factors, combined with the even pace, which was fair to all, mean that this form should be reliable for the grade.
WAARDAH produced a career best here in the first-time hood to emerge a comfortable winner. She travelled well through the race, if a little keen at times, but caught the eye early in the home straight as she made ground effortlessly. She was asked for more two furlongs out and responded impressively to hit the front and quickly put daylight between herself and her rivals. The closing stages only required her to be kept going and she maintained her advantage towards the finish.
DANIELLE probably would have enjoyed a little more cut and she didn’t travel as well as the winner. She was niggled along early in the home straight and was unable to match the winner in the penultimate furlong. To her credit she stayed on well to finish a clear second, without ever really looking like winning.
CONSENT made the early running and set no more than an even pace throughout. She still led the field entering the final three furlongs, but the signs were ominous as Waardah loomed up on her outside. Consent was headed outside the furlong pole and started to fade inside the final furlong as she was passed by Danielle.
PRIZELAND was the most disappointing one of the main four as she never really landed a blow in this contest. She was held up, but only just behind the eventual winner and that certainly wasn’t the reason as Danielle came from further back. She never picked up when asked after travelling reasonably into the race.
CAMEO tracked Consent in the early part of the race and briefly tried to lay down a challenge early in the straight but faded in the final two furlongs.
NYRA was held up off the pace and didn’t get too involved before weakening two furlongs out.
FLORESTA was the first one beaten a long way from home.
